Last Sunday, while in Chicago for the conference of the American Academy of Religion, I was privileged to attend the evening service at Hispanic Bible Ministry (Ministerio Biblico Hispano), a church plant of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cicero, Illinois, a city that contained the former headquarters of Al Capone. The congregation is pastored by Chris Sandoval, a graduate of Westminster Seminary California. The service was bilingual in English and Spanish. We sang Amazing Grace in Spanish, which is translated as Sublime Gracia. When Chris preaches, he speaks in English for about a paragraph and then repeats it in Spanish. The man is seriously gifted and an excellent communicator. My friends and I received a warm welcome from their members and we very much felt at home. It was a memorable time of worship. Please pray for this church and their work in Cicero.
